And while we’ve come a long way towards achieving gender parity since those powerful notes, we still have a long way to go. (170 years in fact, according to the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap Report.)

A global champion for women and girls, UN Women is the United Nations entity responsible for promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality and was established to accelerate progress to meet the needs of women and girls worldwide.
UN Women National Committee Australia exists to raise funds for and awareness of UN Women’s work in the Pacific and around the world – and that’s something we can all help with.
Our Head Designer & Creative Director Ebony designed these Auguste x UN Women tees as a call to action for Auguste customers and to unite women around the world. And this is the best part: 100% of the retail price of the tees was donated to UN Women.
The factory that manufactures these t-shirts is SEDEX accredited and over 76% of the employees in the factory are actually women, many of whom are in supervisor and managerial positions. We are incredibly proud of the fact that they are producing these t-shirts for us and so are they.
Additionally, these tees are made from 55% organic cotton and 45% hemp, both of which are much more sustainable fabrics. Hemp in particular has a very high yield and is fast growing, while organic cotton uses no chemicals in the growing or procurement, making it much safer for everyone involved in the processing of the fabric, from picking the bud to sewing the garment.
