Things To See: Island of Gozo
Part of the Malta archipelago, the island of Gozo is an absolute must-see. Home to some of the oldest religious structures in the world, like the incredible neolithic Ggantija temples (which we highly recommend checking out). The island also offers dramatic orange-red sand beaches and incredible snorkelling at Ramla Bay. Getting around the island can be fun too, with rickety old buses being the preferred mode of transport.
There is no shortage of incredible places to stay in Malta and this will really depend on your budget and what you are looking for in your accommodation. Are you someone who likes to lay by the pool and enjoy the amenities or is accommodation just a place to rest your head, because let's face it, there is so much to see and do? Personally, we love the best of both worlds, that’s why we stayed at the Palazzo Consiglia. A traditional Maltese townhouse converted into a modern boutique hotel, the Palazzo is situated in the heart of Valletta surrounded by incredible architecture and attractions. Oh, and did we mention the rooftop pool and spa.
Friday Nights
The locals of Malta know how to put on a good sunset BBQ. Friday evenings are spent with friends by the ocean - swimming, drinking and laughing over a BBQ of delicious Maltese food. This occurs all around the island but our favourite spots were The Rocks and Paradise Exiles. We had so much fun getting to know some of the local community, the energy was so vibrant and carefree.
