We’re committed to cultivating change through raising awareness and providing philanthropic support to those in the greatest need. What is profit without purpose? We are extremely proud of the charities we support and our achievements in giving back.

We lead with innovative practices, partnering with trusted makers around the world who share our vision for the future. This is a journey and there is always room for improvement, we are constantly working to innovate and refine our environmental and ethical processes.

Transparency and awareness is an integral part of creating a sustainable future. We aim to empower our staff, suppliers and our Auguste women around the world to cherish themselves and the planet.

“As a mother, it is inherent in me to create a future that can be enjoyed for generations to come. In wanting to be a good role model to my two daughters, it is incredibly important to create a business that operates in harmony with the environment and empowers others to do so.”

Our Pledge

At Auguste, we commit to accountability and continuous contribution to environmental causes however, there are always saddening events that call for immediate action and aid.

Our Contribution
69,726 Trees Planted (and counting)

One Tree Planted is a non-profit organisation facilitating a greener type of growth, planting millions of trees globally through local partnerships. Since 2019, Auguste and One Tree Planted have offered you the option to add a tree to your cart for just $1.50, and we match your donation one for one. With your help, our little green thumbs have planted 17,000 trees from the Gold Coast to Grafton, creating an uninterrupted pathway for our native Koalas to live and graze along the way.

NSW Rural Fire Service

The deadly Australian bushfire season of 2019/2020 was worse than we had ever seen before. More than 2400 homes were destroyed in New South Wales alone, over 5.5 million hectares in the state burned, over a billion animals perished, and our volunteers were relentless.

To support the tireless efforts of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, Auguste donated 100% of sales for 24 hours to aid the firefighters and their heroic work.

Koala Adoption

Our Contribution
50 Koalas adopted

The devastating Australian bushfire season of 2019/2020 saw approximately a third of the wild Koala population perish in the fires. In response, Auguste sponsored fifty wild koalas with the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital, a wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to saving the lives of our precious koalas. Each adoption assists in rescuing and treating injured koalas, their release back into the wild and the conservation and expansion of those habitats.

UN Women

Our Contribution
1,300 Tees Sold
$71,023 Raised

A global champion for gender equality, UN Women is the United Nations entity established to accelerate progress to meet the needs of women and girls worldwide. In 2018, Auguste released a limited edition UN Women tees as a call to action to unite women in the push for gender equality. In partnership with UN Women, we donated 100% of the retail price of each tee to help continue their crucial work.

Auguste Against Bullying

2,173 Tees Sold
$85,895 Raised

Bullying is pervasive and painful, with harmful effects on social development. It has no time, it has no place, and yet for many, there’s no escaping it. In 2019, Auguste partnered with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation’s National Centre Against Bullying and The Cybersmile Foundation to take
a stand against bullying. We designed the unisex “Hero” tee to support victims of bullying with 100% of the proceeds donated to our partner charities.

Orangutan Outreach

Our Contribution
$38,156 Raised

Over the last 30 years, it is estimated that the Bornean orangutan population has declined by more than 75%, with roughly only 54,000 left in the wild. Having called Indonesia home for over a decade, this is an issue that is very close to our founder’s heart. In 2016, Auguste began supporting charities like Orangutan Outreach, Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation and the Orangutan Land Trust - working to conserve these beautiful creatures.

International Animal Rescue

Our Contribution
$42,637 Raised

The welfare and health of animals all over the world is a concern we all should actively share, particularly in a time when habitats are increasingly threatened by human intervention. Founded as an animal rescue program, the International Animal Rescue is a recipient of our support through our partnership with 1% For The Planet. Their mission to create a world where animals and humans coexist in a sustainable ecosystem is one we’re proud to contribute to on an ongoing basis.

Great Barrier Reef

Our Contribution
$33,831.57 to Australian Marine Conservation Society

Being a brand that calls Byron Bay home, we cherish the ocean. The Australian Marine Conservation Society works to reduce fatal coral bleaching and protect the Great Barrier Reef from land erosion, industrialisation and sediment runoff. Since 2017, Auguste has supported the AMCS through our partnership with 1% For The Planet, along with our Protect Our Reef tee. 100% of the retail price was donated to AMCS.

Borneo Orangutan Survival

In 2017, we ran the ‘90 Days of Change’ campaign to support Borneo Orangutan Survival - we sponsored an orangutan adoption on behalf of an online customer every day for 90 days. When an infant orangutan is taken away from its mother, they do not learn the necessary survival skills. The BOS team dedicates itself to providing these skills so that they may return to the wild.

Our Fabrics

The road to sustainability starts with a choice, every day we choose to create the change we wish to see in the world. We choose to work with the most sustainable fibres we can while staying true to the quality of our pieces. We are always reviewing the fabrics we use, how they are sourced and the manufacturing methods to ensure our environmental and ethical processes are sustainable and fair.

Cotton

Malvaceae

A natural cellulosic fibre which is 100% biodegradable, cotton is an environmentally friendly fabric that’s extremely durable, breathable and hypoallergenic – but we use cotton less frequently at Auguste and will continue to do so until we find a trusted organic cotton source. We do believe however that organic cotton is the way of the future, and feel as though it is incredibly important to support organic cotton farmers and the demand for this kind of certified material.

Rayon

Regenerated cellulose

We use rayon for most of our ranges and never stray far from this fabric. Not only is the hand-feel incredibly soft, the weight of it hangs gently from the body, putting comfort and timelessness hand-in-hand. This breathable fibre is made from regenerated wood pulp – a manmade renewable plant material that is a natural cellulose-based raw fibre with a silk-like aesthetic and a soft drape. An added bonus is that is uses half the energy to produce than cotton, enabling us to tread a little lighter on our Earth.

Econyl®

Regenerated Nylon

Soft, strong and good for the planet, ECONYL® is the perfect choice for our swimwear. The recycled polyamide is 100% regenerated from pre- and post-consumer waste, including discarded plastic, fishing net and fabric scraps. This waste, destined for landfill or to spend years causing havoc in our oceans, is instead processed into superior quality Italian nylon that’s twice as resistant to chlorine, suntan creams and oils over standard swim fabrications – and certain to be enjoyed for years to come.

Linen

Linaceae

Known throughout history as the world’s strongest natural fibre, Linen has the amazing property of getting better with age. Made from the flax plant, Linen is biodegradable and strong. The flax plant is extremely resilient, requires very little water and can grow in the harshest conditions.

Cupro

Cellulose fiber

Feels like silk, breathes like cotton – what isn’t there to love about cupro. A regenerated cellulose fibre derived from cotton linter (the ultrafine silky fibres that stick to the seeds of the cotton plant after it has been ginned), it is silky soft and regulates body temperature. Furthermore, the closed loop production means that the water used in the processing can be reused as the ammonia used can be easily extracted from the water.

Organic Cotton

Malvaceae

Organic cotton is a more sustainable choice for countless reasons. While conventional cotton is grown using pesticides and chemicals which degrade the soil, reducing the fertility of the land, organic farming has a positive, restorative effect. Chemical-free agricultural land stays fertile much longer, meaning farmers can yield healthier crops for longer and use less resources to do so. Using fewer pesticides protects the health of farmers and their communities can have access to clean water and food supplies that has not been contaminated by chemical runoff.
