Meet the gorgeous Brazilian supermodel Barbara Fialho. Born in Montes Claros, in the heart of Brazil, to a loving family who loved music. After receiving her first guitar from her Grandfather, a talented guitarist himself, Barbara dreamed of being a performer. However, at just 14 years old Barabara was scouted and three months later was living in New York, and now 20 years later, Fialho has worked for some of the best designers, artists, photographers and magazines in the world. She has appeared on the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle & Marie Claire, she has walked in the iconic Victoria’s Secret fashion show for seven consecutive years. Now, after a very successful modelling career, Barabara is chasing her original dream as a musician as she gears up to release three new musical projects. Married to the son of legendary musician Bob Marley, Barabara is the mother of their beautiful baby girl.
“I come from a very humble, very musical and very loving family with a beautiful mix of cultures within. My mother is from Bahia and my dad is from Minas where I was born too.”
“My grandfather was a wonderful musician; he could play every single song in the world by ear on his guitar. He gave me my first guitar when I was just nine years old. I grew up loving music and dreaming of one day being able to sing, perform and live through art.”
“When I was 14 I was scouted to model, three months later I was living in New York. I didn’t really have time to think about it, fashion definitely chose me. It’s now 20 years later and I am so so grateful for the doors that modelling has opened for me and I am so proud to not only model but to be a singer/songwriter too.”
“Today, I have an amazing team behind me that manages both my modelling and music careers. They are my main source of strength and inspiration for they allow me to be who I am and they truly believe in my vision.”
“My faith in God and in goodwill, along with the strength I have inside, has never allowed me to give up. The Fashion industry is very tumultuous, with so many ups and downs, you really have to know who you are or you won’t make it in the industry.”
“I have always been a passionate advocate for gender equality. I dream of a world in which women are leaders. I am always amazed by how challenging it is for women. We are judged for being strong, for having an opinion, for complaining, for having hope that it will be better and for trying to push people forward.”
“Every day, I stand for female empowerment. Women are the real pillars of society. The fact that we have to fight so much to be heard is unbelievable. I know in my heart that if women were in charge, things would be very different. If I could change one thing in the world, that’s what I would do. I would give power to women and I would do it in a loving, sweet way towards men because that’s the female nature. I believe a big part of the fear men have with letting women lead, is that they think we would do to them what they did to us with the power they have. But that isn't female nature, that isn’t mother nature‘s energy. Female energy is forgiving and nurturing. As a mother of a young baby girl, I would like her to grow up in a world where she can fully express herself and be heard and respected for her strength just like a boy does.”
