In 2016, Auguste joined 1% For The Planet – a global movement of businesses committed to investing in a healthier future for our planet. This promise is all about contributing consistently no matter what other initiatives we have going on and paving the way for corporate responsibility.
Through this movement, Auguste has pledged to donate 1% of our annual sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment through grassroots charities very close to the heart of our founder, Ebony Eagles. Currently we are donating to The Australian Marine Conservation Society and the Orangutan Land Trust.
"I think of it as a kind of "earth tax" for being polluters and using up natural resources. I believe that all of our taxes should be resource taxes."

While our membership with 1% For The Planet is about contributing consistently, there are always events that call for extra aid and issues that draw our attention in a different capacity. Let us take you through our other social and environmental initiatives below.
AUGUSTE X ONE TREE PLANTED
Founded with a focus on global reforestation, One Tree Planted is a non-profit organisation facilitating a greener type of growth. Since 2014 the environmental charity has planted millions of roots in regions all around the world with local partnerships to restore forests after fires and floods, build communities and protect habitats. Every 1.2 seconds a forested area the size of a football field is destroyed. That’s 80,000 acres a day – far too many for us to ignore.
In 2019 Auguste partnered with One Tree Planted to enable our customers to add a tree to their cart at check-out by sending $1USD to One Tree Planted – and we match every donation tree for tree. Since then we have put over 10,000 trees in the ground and are very proud to be working with them on a project to protect and rejuvenate the critical Koala habitat by building a Koala Corridor in Northern New South Wales, Australia. The Corridor will form a link that stretches from the Queensland border to Byron Bay and Bangalow, west to Tenterfeild and all the way down to Grafton, a total of 60,000 trees!

AUGUSTE AGAINST BULLYING
In 2019, Auguste partnered with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation’s National Centre Against Bullying and international organisation The Cybersmile Foundation to make a stand against bullying and advocate for the right to be free from violence.
Bullying is as pervasive as it is painful, not to mention significantly harmful. It has no time, it has no place, and yet for many, there’s no escaping it. Our unisex Auguste Against Bullying “Hero” tees were designed to support victims of bullying with 100% of the price tag of each donated to our charity partners.
Purchasing a tee not only sent much-needed funds to their valuable work, but also showed (and continues to show) that there’s no time or place for bullying. We’re incredibly proud to have witnessed that message shared by hundreds throughout this campaign.

The deadly Australian bushfire season of 2019/2020 was, put simply, more widespread than any before. More than 2400 homes were destroyed in New South Wales alone, over 5.5 million hectares in the state burned, a billion animals perished (conservatively estimated, that is) – and the volunteers spending their time to battle the blazes? They were relentless.
To support the tireless efforts of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (three of whom lost their lives in the blazes), Auguste donated 100% of sales for a 24-hour period. Donations made to the NSWRFS directly benefit and support volunteer firefighters to continue their heroic work. Who knows where we’d be without them.
In response to the devastating Australian bushfire season of 2019/2020, Auguste sponsored fifty wild koalas adoptions with the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. Operating since the early ‘70s, the Australian non-profit organisation is a wildlife rehabilitation facility dedicated to saving the lives of our precious koalas – a mission more important than ever with up to a third of the wild population estimated to have perished in the fires. Each adoption assists with the rescue and treatment of our injured friends, their release back to their natural home when possible, and the conservation and expansion of those leafy habitats.
AUGUSTE X UN WOMEN NATIONAL COMMITTEE AUSTRALIA
In 2018, Auguste partnered with UN Women National Committee Australia to raise funds for the important work they do! A global champion for women and girls, UN Women is the United Nations entity responsible for promoting women’s empowerment and gender equality, and was established to accelerate progress to meet the needs of women and girls worldwide. UN Women National Committee Australia exists to raise funds for and awareness of UN Women’s work in the Pacific and around the world.
As a largely female team operating in the women’s fashion industry, their mission is one that resonates strongly with our community. Our founder and creative director Ebony designed Auguste x UN Women tees as a call to action for Auguste customers and to unite women in the push for gender equality around the world. We’re proud to have donated 100% of the retail price of each to UN Women to continue their crucial work.

The welfare and health of animals all over the world is a concern we all should actively share, particularly in a time when habitats are increasingly threatened by human intervention. Founded to save animals from suffering, the International Animal Rescue is a recipient of our support through our partnership with One Percent For The Planet. Their mission to create a world where animals and humans coexist in sustainable ecosystems is one we’re proud to contribute to on an ongoing basis.
Did you know that it is estimated the Bornean orangutan population has declined by 75 percent in under 30 years – with roughly only 54,000 left in the wild? Having spent over a decade of her life in Indonesia, the destruction of orangutan habitats is something that feels particularly close to home to Auguste’s founder and creative director, Ebony Eagles. Since 2016, Auguste has donated to a number of charities focused on conserving the threatened orangutan population and their habitat, including Orangutan Outreach, Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation and the Orangutan Land Trust, and we will continue to do so.
AUGUSTE X AUSTRALIAN MARINE CONSERVATION SOCIETY
As a Byron-based brand with a team of serious beach lovers, the health of our oceans is something very close to our hearts. The Australian Marine Conservation Society is Australia’s only national charity dedicated exclusively to protecting ocean wildlife and their homes.
Their goal is to reduce fatal coral bleaching and help protect the Great Barrier Reef’s water quality from land erosion, industrialisation and sediment runoff.
Since 2017, Auguste has supported the AMCS through both our partnership with One Percent For the Planet as well as our unforgettable international charity tee campaign. To raise awareness for the conservation society and what they do for Australia's oceans, our founder and creative director Ebony Eagles designed a special ‘70s-inspired Protect Our Reef Tee as a call to action around the world. We’re incredibly proud that 100% of the retail price of the tees was donated to the AMCS and they continue to raise awareness for the state of our oceans.

AUGUSTE X BORNEO ORANGUTAN SURVIVAL AUSTRALIA
In 2017, we ran the ‘90 Days of Change’ campaign to support Borneo Orangutan Survival Australia and their efforts to rescue and rehabilitate orangutans. When an infant orangutan is taken away from its mother, he or she loses a whole lifetime of early learning skills, such as building nests, selecting foods and recognising predators. The BOS team dedicates itself to providing these skills so that one day the orangutans in their care can be relocated back into the wild.
Through our campaign, Auguste sponsored an orangutan adoption on behalf of an online customer every day for 90 days! In addition to this, we created a special charity tote bag, with the retail price of each donated to BOS and their incredible work.
